WHAT WE BELIEVE

Communion Fellowship Church is an independent Reformed congregation of Jesus Christ’s Church. By the grace and providence of God, Communion Fellowship has been established as a local church since December 31st, 2017.  We meet for worship in Mendota, Virginia, and our ministry reaches the region along the border of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.  As such it is our purpose to glorify the Triune God and enjoy Him forever. We seek to do this through prayerful and joyful worship, proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through the right preaching of God’s Word, administering the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, making disciples of Jesus Christ through the discipline and teaching of all that Jesus has commanded in His Word, and by ministering to the poor & afflicted with mercy, justice, and grace. As such it is our desire to manifest the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ and His holiness and love in our homes, church, community, and world.

In summary, we believe the following:

  • The Triune God of Scripture is the one true, living and holy God in three persons: the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

  • The Father, from whom are all things that exist and for whom we exist, so loved world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

  • The eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ, became man, lived in perfect obedience, died on the cross for the sins of His people, raised from the dead, reigns over all, and forgives all who repentant of their sin & believe in Him.

  • The Holy Spirit is the giver of life, convicts & converts repentant sinners, builds them up in holiness, comfort & faith, and gives spiritual gifts for service of the Lord and the common good of the Church.

  • Mankind is made in the image of God, male & female, condemned in sin to death, and in need of a Savior.

  • We believe that the whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man’s salvation, faith, and life, is either expressly set down in the Bible, or can be determined from the Bible, the Word of God, which is contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. The BIBLE ALONE is the sole infallible and inerrant source of authority for the church: unto which nothing at any time is to be added or taken away.

  • We believe that JESUS CHRIST ALONE is our Savior, and only by and through Him can we have salvation.

  • We believe that by God’s GRACE ALONE we have salvation, apart from our works of the law.

  • We believe that our salvation and justification before God comes through FAITH ALONE.

  • We believe that all things, especially our salvation, belong to GOD’S GLORY ALONE.

  • The Church is the many members of the body & bride of Jesus Christ, who is the head of the Church, and who equips the church for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ, unified by the Spirit in repentance & faith, baptized into Christ’s death to walk in newness of life, and by the power and hope of His resurrection awaiting their own resurrection for when He returns. Until then the Church is called as His disciples to assemble for worship, fellowship, service, and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
